Teaching Philosophy
What Our Students Say
Over fifteen years of teaching, we have worked with students of many different levels of accomplishment and have developed a style of teaching that accommodates various kinds of learners and interest levels. For all students, regardless of their aspirations, we emphasize the importance of fundamentals of technique and musicianship. These skills are then reinforced in the playing of idiomatic repertoire for the guitar.
Sample Curricula
Young Learners (Ages 5-12)
Young learners are students who have had little to no experience with the guitar. With students in this age group, we encourage the parents to be present at all the lessons so that they can help reinforce the skills that were covered in the lesson in the child’s home practice.

Middle School through Adult Learners (Ages 12-100)
Learning an instrument can be rewarding and enjoyable for adults. It is never too late to begin one's study of music, and our students find the experience of playing the guitar a great release and change from their daily activities. Many of our adult students even go on to participate in guitar festivals and other guitar-related events.

Aspiring Professionals
Aspiring professionals are students who wish to pursue a professional career as musicians. Students will work on developing a broad grasp of the guitar repertoire, preparing for competitions, and performing recitals. Students at this level of dedication will be expected to also work on technique and studies in addition to their repertoire.
